ECHO History

On November 20, 2007, ECHO celebrated its fifth anniversary!

Since ECHO’s launch, hundreds of thousands of citizens, government officials, investors, and staff at regulated facilities and companies have asked more than three million questions about the environmental records of the more than 800,000 facilities in ECHO. EPA is planning web site demos and training sessions for the next several months, and information will be posted on this page.

  ECHO was released in final in August 2003. ECHO's public comment period closed on March 31, 2003, and EPA reviewed the comments it received. The above link includes the EPA Public Comment Period Summary and Response to Comment document dated August 19, 2003. This document provides statistics on comment period site use, error notifications and error responses. The document also summarizes public comments and provides EPA's response to these comments.
